Everyone is known, no one is anonymous
Users are unable to ask for help or help others unless they are first ID verified using the latest technology and standards. Every user is known and accountable for their activity.
Transparency and comfort at the core
Every user profile shows the most recent help they've given, the thanks they've received, how long they've been a member of the community, and more.
Your address stays private
Your help requests are shown to people near you, but your exact location is never displayed publicly. You control when to share your address details privately with the person who is willing to help you. Of course, you can always choose a public place to meet, and for many categories, help can be asked for and given virtually.
Conversations between users are actively monitored
Messages in the app are continuously and actively monitored for harassment, inappropriate content, scams and attempts to move things off the platform. Anything flagged is reviewed and actioned by our team. How monitoring works, in our privacy policy.
Reporting starts with one tap
Every profile, help request and message has a report button. Reports go to a real person, and we act on them: warnings, restrictions, and when necessary, removal. You can also block anyone at any time. There are additional in-app buttons to notify your emergency contacts as well as to contact local emergency services.
What you can and can't ask for
Just about anything someone in your community could reasonably help with: a ride, a hand moving something, an hour of tutoring, walking a dog, borrowing a tool, a home-cooked meal. Medical procedures, illegal or illicit activities, requests involving payment, and the like are not welcome or permitted on karma.
18+ only
karma is currently for ages 18 and over. We describe our approach to minors, and how to report a concern, on our child safety page.
Something happened. What do I do?
If you're in danger or there's been an emergency, call your local emergency services first (911 in the US, 999 in the UK).
Then, if possible, report it in the app and/or email safety@karma-app.com. Safety and security concerns are reviewed and treated with the utmost attention.
