What is karma?
karma is a community app, powered by real kindness between real people, connecting those who need help with those willing and able to provide it. You can ask for help when you need it, and offer it when you can. And every time you help someone, you earn karma.
What kinds of requests can I make?
Just about anything someone in your community could reasonably help with: a ride, a hand moving something, an hour of tutoring, walking a dog, borrowing a tool, a home-cooked meal. Medical procedures, illegal or illicit activities, requests involving payment, and the like are not welcome or permitted on karma.
Is karma free?
Yes. Downloading the app, asking for help, helping others, and earning, redeeming, and sharing karma are all free for users.
Do I have to help before I can ask?
No. Ask whenever you need something. Most people find that once someone has helped them, they then want to help others, and that's how the loop keeps going.
What do I get for helping?
The amazing feeling of a helper's high, plus 1 karma every time you help someone. In addition to simply accumulating your karma and seeing the positive impact you're having in the community, you can redeem it for yourself for a reward from the marketplace, share it with someone else (along with a warm message), or pay it forward to a cause of your choice.
Is karma safe?
We built karma around meeting in real life, so safety is our core principle and priority in design and application: verified human users, visible feedback from others, content and community moderation, in-app chat monitoring, and easy paths to report users as well as seek emergency assistance. Read how safety works.
How do I know the people are real?
Every user verifies with an email or through registration with an existing platform (Apple, Google, etc.), as well as a confirmation text. There are no anonymous users on karma. Each person asking for help or who is willing to help you has first been ID verified. Further, user profiles carry a history of help given and thanks received, so you can get a feel for the other person before you say yes.
Who can see my help requests?
Your help requests are visible to verified users in your area (or more widely if the help doesn't depend on location). You control when to share your address and full details privately with the person who is willing to help you.
Is karma available in my area?
karma is rolling out town by town, city by city, and then country by country. Join the waitlist, tell others in your area, and we'll notify you the day it opens where you are.
How do I delete my account?
In the app under Profile → Personal details, or from our account deletion page. Deleting removes your profile and personal data as described in our privacy policy.
